Dissociation energies of C a – H bonds in amino acids – a re - examination 3

چکیده
The Ca–H bond dissociation energies (BDE) in glycine and alanine peptide models have been assessed using selected theoretical methods from the G3 and, in part, G4 family. The BDE values (and thus the stability of the respective Ca peptide radicals) are shown to depend significantly on the level of theory, the size of the model system and the coverage of conformational space. For the largest dipeptide models chosen here, BDE(Ca–H) values of +363.8 kJ mol 21 (glycine) and +372.3 kJ mol (alanine) have been obtained at G3B3 level. This reconfirms earlier findings that glycyl peptide radicals are more stable than radicals derived from alanine or any other amino acid carrying substituents at the Ca position.

متن کاملA STUDY OF ULTRASONIC ABSORPTION OF SOME AMINO ACIDS AND THEIR MIXTURES AT PHYSIOLOGICAL pH
In this paper, the ultrasonic absorption of amino acids was measured using a small cylindrical resonator at physiological pH and 25°C and a concentration of 0.1. M. The absorption of mixtures of some amino acids was also measured. In the case of cysteine-histidine, the absorption of mixtures is much larger (more than twice) than the summation of absorption of the individual amino acid. This...

In this paper, the hydrogen bonding (HB) effects on the NMR chemical shifts of selected atoms in serineand serine-nH2O complexes (from one to ten water molecules) have been investigated with quantummechanical calculations of the 15N and 13C tensors. Interaction with water molecules causes importantchanges in geometry and electronic structure of serine. For the compound studied, the most importan...

Propene dissociation channels were characterized by ab initio CCSD(T)/6-311++g(d,p) calculations. Inthis work the detailed mechanism of propene dissociation to C2H4+CH2, C2H2+H+CH3, C2H2+CH4 andC3H3+H2+H have been investigated. According to our calculations, ten fragments can be classified intofive dissociated channels. Our results point out that two mechanisms come into play in the H2 eliminat...

The potential energy surface of gaseous glycine determined years ago in the ab initio B3LYP/6-311++G** calculations is composed of thirteen stable conformers. We performed the ab initiomolecular orbital calculations as the starting point to carry out a force field and normal coordinatecalculation on the most stable conformer of non-zwitterionic glycine [conformer (I)]. Thecalculations were carr...
